Gil Birmingham, who stars in the Paramount Network series as Chef Thomas Rainwater, provides a production update on Season 5 of Yellowstone.
Gil Birmingham shares an update for Yellowstone season 5. Also known for his role as Billy Black in the Dusk film saga, the actor of Comanche ancestry stars in the Paramount Network original series as Chief Thomas Rainwater, the tribal chairman of the fictional Broken Rock Indian Reservation who considers the Yellowstone Ranch to be stolen Native American land and tries to get her back from the Dutton family. Besides its role in YellowstoneBirmingham Stars in FX’s New True Crime Miniseries Under the banner of heaven alongside Andrew Garfield.
Created in 2018, Yellowstone Primarily follows the Dutton family and their widowed patriarch John Dutton, played by Oscar winner Kevin Costner. The Dutton Clan owns and operates the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, located in the state of Montana. The Yellowstone Dutton Ranch (commonly shortened to “Yellowstone”) borders the titular national park, the Broken Rock Indian Reservation, and is under constant threat from outside interests and real estate developers. Earlier this year, Yellowstone has been renewed for Season 5, which will be split into two volumes consisting of seven episodes each.
Talk to E! News alongside Garfield for their new series together, Under the banner of heavenBirmingham also provided a small update regarding pre-production for Yellowstone season 5. The star says the cast hasn’t even received scripts for the fifth season yet. Beyond that, Birmingham couldn’t reveal anything about the popular western and quickly handed over to Garfield, who “never seen Yellowstoneand wouldn’t risk spoiling anything. Garfield: I know he’s about to do next season, but he’s not allowed to talk. Under penalty of death, he will not reveal anything about the new season.
From designer Taylor Sheridan (Against all odds, Wind River) to direct star Kevin Costner, virtually no one is involved in Yellowstone expected the neo-western to become a hit due to its slow burn pace and storytelling. Now it has become one of the most watched shows on cable TV with a dedicated fan base eagerly awaiting updates regarding the upcoming season. From Birmingham’s recent comment, it seems that Yellowstone Season 5 is still a long way off.
Fortunately, fans have a season of 1883the Yellowstone prequel series on Paramount+, to keep them busy in the meantime. Besides, 1883 will be followed by a series of sequels, 1932, both following different generations of Dutton ancestors in the titular year. Paramount is clearly invested in the development of the Yellowstone universe as much as possible (including another spin-off called 6666), although the original series will always generate the most interest. Since the cast has yet to receive scripts, expect Yellowstone season 5 will hit the airwaves in November 2022 at the earliest.
