You can rent a “tank” to float down the Cedar River this summer

If you’re looking for a new way to “float” this summer, this could be a lot of fun!

More at Cedar River Campground at Tipton is a company called Cedar River Tank, Tube, and Canoe Rentals. According to the Facebook page:

“Cedar River Tank, Tube, and Canoe will offer relaxing floats and canoe trips on the beautiful Cedar River. Our awesome new location at Cedar River Campground gives you private access to the river and the ability to add camping or a day use pass for our many amenities.”

I’m sure many of us have raced down a river on an inner tube or canoe, but what about a reservoir? Until today, I had no idea that was even an option! The tanks consist of a round bottom with an integrated bench and a small table with a parasol. It’s a great option for people who love the river, but don’t want to sit in the water all day. Here are some examples of those available:

The tanks can seat four people and cost $150 to rent. You can add a small child to the tank for an additional $15. Floating time is approximately four hours.

If you prefer to take the more traditional route, canoes can accommodate two people and cost $50 ($15 extra for a small child) and tubes are $30. If you want to add a cooler tube, it will cost you $10.

To rent the tanks, canoes or tubes, you can send the date and the number of people you prefer to Cedar River Tank, Tube, and Canoe Rentals at 319-471-0990 or by email at [email protected]. Check the Facebook page for more information HERE.
