2 Texas Getaways Secure a Top Spot on Airbnb’s Top Searches List in the United States

Naturally, Americans can’t wait to get away from it all this spring and summer. Some seem to be scratching that itch with stays in the Texas Gulf Coast community of Surf Beach and the community of Hill Country adjacent to Round top.

Based on Airbnb data published on March 17, Surfside Beach and Round Top are tied for the third most popular travel destination in the United States this spring and summer. (Airbnb’s Most Wanted Spotlight post on its site mentions Round Top but inadvertently omitted Surfside Beach.)

TourTexas.com describe Surfside Beach this way: “Home to four miles of pristine shoreline, unique restaurants and colorful surf shops, this unique Gulf Coast getaway has something for everyone. Located just an hour from Houston, Surfside Beach offers an easy escape from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

Airbnb is highlighting these two rental properties in Surfside Beach, approximately 65 miles south of Houston:

  • A house near the beach which rents for $ 183 a night. According to the Airbnb listing, this three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom property is located in a “scenic and quiet location overlooking the waterway.” The house features coastal décor, two decks and a charcoal barbecue.
  • A “romantic” cottage a few blocks from the beach which rents for $ 171 a night. “Although small in size, everything you need is here and done with exquisite taste, from finishes and furnishings to decor,” the Airbnb listing states. Highlights of the one bedroom and one bath property include a patio, gas grill, and ceiling fans throughout. Up to two “well behaved” dogs are welcome.

Texas monthly calls Round Top the state version of Aspen, Colorado.

“Our city is the best of both worlds. We are the Round Top Antiques Show. Country chic meets arts and culture. We do shopping and southern hospitality. We are fine dining mixed with life on the porch ”, the Round Top Area Chamber of Commerce said.

Airbnb draws attention to these two rental properties in Round Top, approximately 95 miles northwest of Houston:

  • The Nid dans les Arbres guest house, which rents for $ 404 a night. This one bedroom, one bathroom cottage is nestled among oak and elm trees, and is designed to look like a birdhouse and feel like a treehouse. The guesthouse sits behind the main house on approximately 25 acres. Rental includes basic breakfast items, as well as bottled water and snacks. Two ottomans in the living room convert into a full-size mattress that can accommodate an adult or two children.
  • A chalet on private family horse farm of 19 acres which rents for $ 213 a night. The three bedroom, one bath property has a large walk-in shower and a covered porch with two rocking chairs. The chalet is two and a half miles from the town square.
