“They seem like good kids, typical college kids,” a neighbor said. “Rowdy in the pool, but they don’t deserve this.
The shock of the neighbors is accompanied by the concern of the rescue teams after the overdose of the six circuit breakers.
“There is great concern that there may be more ODs over the next few days,” said Fort Lauderdale City Fire Battalion Chief Stephen Gollan.
The drug is believed to be cocaine laced with fentanyl.
Four of those who overdosed went into cardiac arrest before two friends tried to help them by performing CPR. That’s when they were also exposed to drugs.

Chopper4 was at the scene Thursday as first responders transported victims on stretchers to nearby ambulances.
“Four of them were transported to Broward Health and two to Holy Cross. Five of them are stable, but one is still critical and intubated at the moment,” Gollan said.
Fentanyl is extremely powerful.
A 2020 report from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement shows that three South Florida districts are in the top 10 for fentanyl-related deaths.
The Fort Lauderdale area is the highest.
