Take a little vacation at Tiny House Siesta
The idea of staying in a small house usually gives me cold sweats. But these charming little houses in Siesta Key really look super cool.
Rollback: Pennsylvania-based vacation rental investor Jeremy Ricci turned part of a 1940s RV park into a little haven in 2017 after meeting HGTV series host Derek Diedricksen “Extremely small spaces” and “Tiny house builders.”
- Ricci bought some of the tiny houses second-hand, but now he has them custom-built by Amish carpenters and hauled up from the north.
Details: Tiny House Siesta offers more than ten themed stays, including a margarita-themed retreat and one little sea turtle house featured in Airbnb”OH MY GOD” rest.
- They rent for $163-230 per night just off Stickney Point Road about three quarters of a mile from the beach.
My favorite: The Red Lifeguard Post with a surfboard breakfast bar.
Nearby hotspots: Siesta Key Oyster Bar and Phillippi Creek.
Best for: People who are interested in tiny homes but may not be ready to purchase one themselves.
- “We give people the chance to experience it for a week or a weekend,” Ricci said. “You haven’t really experienced a tiny house until you hit your head on the way up to the attic.”
What they say : Their uniqueness helps tiny homes like this trump cozy hotel rooms, reservations manager Megan Schmid told Axios.
- “If you’re in a hotel room, you might not remember where you stayed,” she said. “The experience is part of creating those memories.”
