I saw John Lennon’s face in a beer
Let it be-uh?
A super Beatles fan has claimed to have seen the face of ‘Imagine’ icon John Lennon in a freshly poured pint of beer during an anniversary tour of the band’s landmarks.
Lee Baker, who was drinking with friends at the Cavern Club in Liverpool – where the Fab Four rocked in the pre-invasion era – said he spotted the music legend in the froth of his friend’s beer, and it “looked like a sign” from above.
“When I saw John Lennon’s face in my buddy’s pint, it was kind of scary, it was like a sign,” the 51-year-old told Jam Press. “I was minding my own business and just peeked and saw it. It also made us laugh for ages. Since then, it’s been a joke between us.
Of his “all you need is foam” moment, Baker added, “That was before his bearded era in the ’70s, when he was sharper.”
The father of two, his wife and two other friends have visited Paul McCartney and Lennon, as well as legendary venues such as Penny Lane, Strawberry Field and the Cavern Club.
“I’ve always been a Beatles fanatic. I grew up in the 70s, and my mom and dad were big Beatles fans too. It’s the music I grew up listening to,” Baker said.
“John Lennon is my favorite Beatle. I like that he was a bit off the cuff, a genius, he was quite angry at times, he was outspoken – he returned his MBE to the Queen,” Baker added.
“He was the leader, he was just the main man. I know Paul McCartney was just as talented, but John had the charisma that Paul lacked.
Baker said Lennon’s face is the only famous person he has ever seen in a glass.
“Unfortunately I haven’t seen any other famous faces in a pint before or since,” he said. “I will definitely keep an eye on [the] future, in case someone else makes an appearance.
