A family-run bed and breakfast business started during the pandemic continues to grow after receiving a perfect review.
After losing her job, Kate Machin transformed The Barn at the back of their family home in Allington into a self-catering bed and breakfast, containing two unique self-contained apartments: the Welby Suite and the Belvoir Suite.
The company recently received a 10 out of 10 rating from Booking.com’s 2022 Traveler Review Awards.
Kate said: “After losing my marketing job just before the pandemic, I decided to pursue a dream and create a luxury, yet affordable, self-catering B&B in an unused barn at the back of our property.
“We had a rocky start, and like most businesses, we had to close our doors very early in our journey. However, we have taken this time to create our second sequel, and since opening our doors properly after lockdown in April 2021, The Barn has gone from strength to strength, attracting people from near and far who visit the area.
“Receiving 10 out of 10 at the 2022 Booking.com Traveler Review Awards is a huge achievement for us, and a testament to the hard work and attention to detail we have put into creating this space for our guests to enjoy.
“I love hosting guests at The Barn and very much appreciate all the special little touches we include, which are things we’ve learned on our own travels and our love for beautiful places to stay. Recognition such than this price, makes it even more interesting.
The Barn has attracted guests from as far away as Southampton, Glasgow and even Texas, and from as near as Grantham and neighboring villages.
People stay for a number of reasons including local weddings, visits to Belton House NT and Belvoir Castle, spa weekends, vacations and weekends away, visiting friends, festivals and local concerts, city breaks, walking and cycling holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, competitions at ArenaUK Equestrian Showground, local Park Runs and much more.
