Airbnb host says guest left 4 hours into stay

Airbnb hosts say one of their guests left their apartment after just four hours. The guest told the hosts that her husband broke the bathroom door by kicking it open.

Tony and Sara Robinson (@therealestaterobinsons), real estate agents who make TikToks and YouTube videos about their work, posted a TikTok on July 26 sharing that a guest left their apartment four hours after arriving because her husband has damaged.

The Robinsons show messages the guest sent saying her husband broke the bathroom door by hitting it, apologizing and offering to cover any repair costs. The photos of the door show three large holes. TikTokers also show that a framed artwork was damaged, as was their glass table.

The guest told the Robinsons she was “fine” after they checked on her, and said she and her husband “left in a hurry.”

TikTokers captioned their video with a broken heart and called it a “heated fight”. As of Wednesday, the Robinson video has been viewed nearly 4 million times.

Commentators on the Robinsons’ video discussed the possibility that domestic abuse may have occurred in the apartment.

“This woman who apologizes, pays and takes the shame of her abuser,” @sexmountain commented.

“If he’s willing to do this in a strangers house without fear, imagine what he does to this woman in her own house,” @mkarchy wrote.

“A cry for help,” @slimmcx commented.

Others advised the Robinsons on next steps.

β€œTell her you need to call her to discuss the repairs and see if she needs any help,” @emhylt0n wrote.

β€œI would be hard pressed not to call the police,” @rental.cashflow commented.

“Give him a place!” @thatrockinmama commented. “Looks like she’s had enough!” Β»

Some doubled down on the recommendation that the Robinsons allow the woman to stay at their Airbnb, and others offered to fund her stay.

“You should offer him accommodation, away from him, since you have an extra,” @guycharmandier wrote.

β€œI hope you can connect with this woman more. Seems like a lot of us are funding an extended stay on airbnb so she can hang out,” @leah__christine commented.

In 2020, Airbnb partnered with organizations that provide housing and resources for victims of domestic violence in New York and Ireland.

“We understand that providing housing solutions is a crucial part of both breaking the cycle of gender-based violence and a survivor’s healing process,” Airbnb said in an announcement of its New York partnership.

The Daily Dot reached out to Sara Robinson via direct message on Instagram and Airbnb via email.
