In 2018, we published an article called “Finding Airbnb properties with a piano”. We wanted to help those looking for a vacation property with a piano. This is an important consideration for many of our readers. We felt that getting Airbnb to include it as a search option was the best way to go.
Although we reached out to Airbnb and suggested our readers send a message to the company, we heard nothing.
But it looks like our efforts weren’t entirely in vain (although that might just be a coincidence). Airbnb just changed the format of its homepage to include 56 search categories. And one of them is “Grand Pianos”. You can now find rental houses around the world offering access to a grand piano. And at the time of writing, there are over 2,800 such properties listed.
It’s a big step forward. It is no longer necessary to browse countless advertisements in search of a piano. Now, the professional pianist no longer needs to interrupt his essential practice schedule to take a vacation. And the amateur musician, who only has a small digital piano at home, can now go on vacation and taste the real pleasures of an acoustic instrument.
Too bad the search category is limited to grand pianos. Why exclude amounts? They might not be as glamorous or photogenic in a list, but access to a good upright piano would be more than enough option for most vacationing pianists.
How it works
To use this new search function, access the Airbnb homepage. A line of icons is visible below the company logo. Click/tap the right arrow until the grand piano icon appears. Click on this graphic and listings showing grand pianos in their homes will appear.
And by using the map option, you can discover thousands of beautiful properties all over the world, all with pianos just waiting to be played. Even if you’re not planning a vacation, it’s worth taking a look inside some amazing homes.
