A valuable collection of exhibits will be on display, including the rare hand-carved century-old mahjong tiles in bone ox; bamboo-backed Japanese tiles from the 1970s; and hand-carved sets of hong kong whose production has already ceased, alongside rare catalogs and books offering a multifaceted look at the art of gaming.
Along with the Instagram-worthy mahjong-themed exhibit and installations, there’s also a set of “Temple Mall X The Art of Mahjong Craft” Mahjong tiles designed exclusively for the event by “The Art of mahjong craft” studio. Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese festivities as well as the monuments of Wong Tai Sinthe sequel pushes the aesthetic and artisanal boundaries of mahjong tiles with a modern palette to usher in the new year.

The show is courtesy of “The Art of mahjong craft“, the studio founded by Ricky Cheung sing-chung, one of that of Hong Kong last mahjong artisans, and his daughter Karen Aruba, illustrator. In addition to the Cantonese style, the exhibition presents an array of versions around the world: the Malaysian style with an additional set of animal tiles; the Vietnamese and American versions with 16 and eight joker tiles respectively; and Japanese mahjong characterized by “Dora” (bonus) tiles. Additionally, you can learn about the tile production process, from craftsmanship to polishing via the tools and machinery on display, in addition to discovering stories behind the Fuk Hing Lung Mah-jong Factory and the glorious past. of the mah-jong manufacturing industry in hong kong. Under the theme of ‘The Art of Mahjong Craft’, the first mahjong craft studio located in the Jockey Club Creative Arts Center (JCCAC), was established and founded by hand-carved mahjong craftsman, Mr .
