The body of a child was found buried in the garden of a property in birmingham.

Police have been digging in the same spot for a week after receiving new information.

Human remains were discovered in the house on Clarence Road in the Handsworth area of ​​the city.

An autopsy must be performed to establish the cause of death.

A 40-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman appeared in court charged with negligence for causing or permitting the death of a child.

People living in the Clarence Road home are not connected to the case, police said.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: ‘A 40-year-old man and 41-year-old woman were arrested on December 9 on suspicion of causing or enabling the death of a child and a case distinct from willful negligence.

“Both were charged with negligence and remanded in custody.

“The investigation into the offense of causing or permitting the death of a child is continuing.

“Current occupants of the Clarence Road property are aware of the search, but are not connected to the investigation.”
