Birmingham man dies after being pulled from fire

Update 1/18: The man who was pulled from a burning house on Sunday has died. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Jesse Gaddy, 79, of Birmingham. Gaddy was taken to Princeton Baptist Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Sunday afternoon.He succumbed to his injuries at 8.45pm on January 17.Birmingham Fire Service said the fire was caused by a heater.Birmingham Fire and Rescue crews are on the scene of a fire where a person had to be rescued on Sunday afternoon. The call came in at 1:15 p.m. from a burning house in the 1100 block of Cotton Avenue. When they arrived, they saw flames coming from the house. Firefighters located a man inside who they believe lives at the house. He was unresponsive and they rushed him to UAB Hospital in critical condition. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
