Black Girls Dream Tour offers mentorship and inspiration
ONCE AGAIN MONDAY MORNING THIS AFTERNOON AN EVENT TO BUILD A BETTER FUTURE FOR MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY. WVTM 13 CHIP SCARBOROUGH IS LIVE IN BIRMINGHAM WITH MORE ON THE DREAM BUS TOUR. CHIP. JEFF’S ORGANIZERS SAY THEY REALIZE THERE IS SOMETHING THEY CALLS SEVERE UNDER-INVESTMENT IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY THAT CAUSED THE EVENT YOU SEE LIVE HAPPEN HERE AT KELLY INGRAM PARK. NOW IT’S CALLED A BLACK GIRLS DREAM TOUR. THIS IS THE LAST STOP ON THIS TOUR. AND KELLY INGRAM PARK IN BIRMINGHAM CITY CENTRE. IT IS ORGANIZED BY THE CONSORTIUM OF SOUTHERN BLACK GIRLS AND WOMEN, BASED IN ATLANTA. THOSE ORGANIZING THE EVENT SAY THEIR MAIN GOAL IS TO BRING JOY TO THE COMMUNITY. IT’S DONE THROUGH A NUMBER OF ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING SENSITIVE HOUSES, BOARD GAMES, A 360 DEGREE PHOTOBOOTH AND SCORE STATIONS. WE REALIZE WE NEED TO ENSURE THAT WE MENTOR, WE BRING JOY TO OUR COMMUNITIES. WE CANNOT DEPEND ON OTHERS TO DO IT. SO IT’S VERY IMPORTANT THAT JUST THE PURE HUMBLITY AND PURE APPRECIATION THAT OUR BENEFITS HAVE, IT’S JUST ON I WANT, IT’S JUST AMAZING. IT’S JUST AMAZING THAT THE EVENT IS ENDING HERE WITHIN THE NEXT MINUTES BEFORE THE TOUR ENDS HERE IN BIRMINGHAM, A NUMBER OF OTHER STOPS WERE MADE AND JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, LIVINGSTON, ALABAMA AND WILCOX COUNTY, ALABAMA, LIVE AT KELLY INGRAM PARK IN DOWNT
