BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Zylan Cheatham’s four-foot hook shot with 33.7 seconds left proved to be the game-winner as the Birmingham squad edged the league-leading Stockton Kings 112- 111, Saturday night at the BJCC’s Legacy Arena.
Squadron (2-10) were boosted by 50 points off the bench, including a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double from James Kelly Sr. Birmingham was led by Zylan Cheatham’s 21 points, while the product from Arizona State also entered. seven rebounds.
Along with Kelly and Cheatham, three other Squadron players, Javonte Smart (16), Feron Hunt (15) and Dereon Seabron (12) scored in double digits.
Stockton (9-2) was paced in the scoring column by Wes Iwundu’s 24 points and 12 boards. All five Kings starters scored in double digits but were outscored by 20 reserve points.
