Chilling CCTV footage shows moment rapist carries victim through city center

Austin Osayande is due to be sentenced next month

Chilling CCTV footage shows the moment a rapist carries his victim through a city center in the early hours of the morning before attacking her from a short distance.

The 24-year-old was walking to get a taxi home to Leeds after a night out when she was approached by Austin Osayande around 5am on August 14, 2015.

Osayande spoke to the woman and walked alongside her before picking her up and carrying her to the scene of the attack a short distance away, West Yorkshire Police said.

Wearing a long black overcoat and black trousers and with a shaved head, he is seen in previous CCTV footage strolling through a parking lot and approaching a woman on the street.

Police released the footage of their hunt for Osayande but only caught him in September last year when he committed another sexual assault.

Osayande went on trial after being charged with rape in 2015 and sexually assaulting a woman in the city on September 10 last year.

The footage resurfaced this week when Osayande admitted one count of rape and one count of sexual assault by penetration at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday.

He was taken into custody ahead of his sentencing on February 23.

The images of Osayande follow similarly disturbing images that circulated on Thursday of Angel Lynn being kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend, Chay Bowskill.

The 19-year-old was unable to walk, talk or feed herself without 24-hour care after leaving a high-speed vehicle on the A6 towards Loughborough in September 2020.

Bowskill, who was helped by his friend, Rocco Sansome, also 20, were both jailed.
