From arrests and dispersals to banning people from places – it’s Hampshire Police Christmas criminality repression in numbers.

Every weekend in December, police came out in force in Southampton downtown as part of Operation Defender.

The multi-agency response to keep people safe in the night economy has proven successful this month.

Southampton District Commander Chief Inspector Marcus Kennedy said: ‘So far over the recent festive period we have seen an initial reduction in violence and sexual assault in our workplaces. nocturnal economy.

Over the weekends in December, there were a total of 15 arrests, 34 section 35 dispersal orders and seven people banned from the scene.

Chief Inspector Marcus Kennedy, said: ‘Our local Neighborhood Policing teams across Southampton have been working hard to patrol the town; targeting key night economy locations throughout December.
