Coachella Short Term Rentals: Vrbos and Airbnbs Festival

The Coachella lineup is out. Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK and Frank Ocean are headlining. You go there, but not alone. You have a whole group. With that in mind, a Vrbo is perhaps a better option than a hotel room. Do you want to be crammed into a hotel room with people sleeping on the floor and groping on top of each other in a bathroom, or sprawled out in a house?

The festival, officially called the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, will be held April 14-16 and April 21-23. It’s held in the city of Indio, which is one of nine cities in the Coachella Valley (you’ve probably heard of Palm Springs) which is about two hours east of Los Angeles.

So where are you staying? Keep in mind that Palm Springs is actually 25 miles from the venue, so the cities of Indio, La Quinta or Palm Desert will be closer to where the festival is taking place. But Palm Springs also functions as a fallback. In some cases, being further away is more affordable than comparable locations closer to the field.

Here are some Vrbo options in the desert that are still available:

Endless summer house

This house is located in Indio, in the Indian Palms Country Club, a short walk from the festival site. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms with enough beds to accommodate up to 10 people. So if you have a large group, this one is perfect. This home also features a saltwater pool, hot tub, fire pit, and bar – all great places to relax and unwind before and after a day of music. Fans of a little friendly competition will appreciate the large yard with a three-hole green and room for pétanque or croquet. Or venture into the country club which has a 27-hole golf course and tennis and pétanque courts.

Desert Sanctuary at PGA West

This three bedroom, three and a half bath home is located in La Quinta, 3 miles from the festival grounds inside the prestigious PGA West golf community with stunning views of the nearby mountains. The renovated estate features a heated pool and spa, BBQ and fire pit. There are also plenty of outdoor lounging and dining areas where guests can sit and enjoy the beauty of a serene stream and lush landscaping or watch their favorite show on an outdoor TV. Since it is located inside a golf community, guests have access to three of the six public golf courses; if you get hungry, you can walk—or take two of the provided bikes—to Ernie’s Bar and Grill or Wallaby’s, both located inside the community.

Getaway of the singing palms

This very spacious four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in La Quinta is just 4 miles from the festival site and sleeps nine, so there’s plenty of room for all your friends to spread out. It is nestled against the Santa Rosa Mountains and features a lush tropical garden with various fruit trees and cacti that surround a 40-foot resort-style pool. There is also a hot tub, fire pit, BBQ and lounge chairs to add to the outdoor fun. And indoors, you can have a friendly competition playing billiards on the pool table. Although the house has a secluded vibe, it is located within walking distance of a variety of restaurants, shops, and a movie theater.

Hacienda Montezuma

This Santa Fe-style home is located less than 5 miles from the festival site and features an incredible heated pool and outdoor patio with stunning views of the Santa Rosa Mountains. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home sleeps up to eight adults and is also located directly across from the Bear Creek Nature Trail, a scenic route along the mountains. Located in the La Quinta Cove neighborhood, the house is also a mile and a half from Old Town La Quinta, home to many restaurants, shops, and places to grab a beer or cocktail.

Mid-Century Modern Luxury

This furnished mid-century home is 12 miles from the festival site in Palm Desert, but it’s relatively affordable and, with its fun amenities and modern decor, is worth the longer drive time. The home features two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a detached casita that has a kitchen and a full bathroom. In all, the property sleeps 10 people, so it’s perfect for a large group heading to the music festival or for an intimate couple’s getaway. During your stay, you can take in the mountain views, splash around the pool, relax in the spa, or enjoy a friendly competition on the table tennis table or on the four-hole putting green. Located in the middle of the valley, this home is also just three minutes from the upscale El Paseo shopping district with plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars.

Little Beverly Hills Pink Door

This gem in the Little Beverly Hills neighborhood of Palm Springs, 22 miles from the festival site, exemplifies the area’s signature mid-century modern vibe. Originally built by Alexander Construction Company in 1958, the house has been completely remodeled but still retains its mid-mod charm. Bright pink French doors invite guests into the home, which features three bedrooms, three bathrooms, an open concept, and crisp design touches. Outside there is a sparkling pool with built-in waterfall, multiple fires, grill, small citrus orchard and spectacular mountain views. If you’re a fan of home improvement shows, you might have even seen this house on an episode of HGTV’s “Desert Flippers.”
