Cotswold pub vying to be crowned Britain’s best

Almost 100 drinkers from across the country have been nominated in a poll of the country’s favorite drinking places for the National Pub & Bar Awards 2022, including a rural pub in Gloucestershire. Pubs and bars from each of the UK regions will compete for the top spot.

The Frogmill at Shipton is fighting for Gloucestershire. Previously owned by world-renowned chef Marco Pierre White, this pub, hotel and restaurant underwent a massive £3.5million overhaul in 2018. Pictures show how the refurbishment has breathed new life into the 16th century inn century and transformed it into a charming destination in the heart of the Cotswolds.

The Pub and Bar Awards showcase the country’s top talent in the hospitality industry, never more important than at this difficult time for many workers in the sector. The top establishment that sets the standard for others will be crowned in London on June 22.

During the final, 15 regional winners will be announced before the overall winner is revealed. 2021 winner Galvin Green Man in Essex is also in contention to retain the title.

Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine, which is hosting the event, said: “Just by being in these places you can see how much pubs and bars mean to people across the United Kingdom. With the number of visitors increasing, it is more important than ever for operators to provide exceptional service with every visit, regardless of the business in question.

“These 94 county winners are wonderful examples of today’s modern restaurant brilliance. If you live near any of these sites, be sure to visit them.
