New Delhi: As Agra attracts more than 42 million tourists each year, the city has one of the fewest Airbnb stays in the world, according to a new study by the site Inkifi.

Topping the list is the town of Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei, with 115 active rentals. Inkifi claims that with just £18 or Rs 1742.91 you can find the cheapest listing in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Gibraltar, with 158 active rentals, ranks second in the list.

Inkifi’s research also revealed facts about other cities across India. The IT hub of Bengaluru is the second cheapest city to live in an Airbnb, with an average daily rate of £19.26 or Rs 1,864.91. Cities with the most Airbnb stays

Since 2019, Airbnb has seen a 30.92% decline in the number of active rentals, with the total number of listings for the top 10 destinations falling from 303,535 to 209,682 through 2022. The study indicates that this decline can be attributed to various factors including the impact of Covid-19 on the tourism industry.

Cities with the most Airbnb stays, such as London, Paris and New York, saw a significant drop in active Airbnb listings. Listings in London saw a 42.51% drop from 59,378 in 2019 to 34,135 in 2022. Paris saw a 27.49% drop, with active listings dropping from 34,395 in 2019 to 24,940 in 2022.

While these numbers highlight the total number of active listings in cities, they do not reflect the density of Airbnbs in the region. Topping the list of cities with the highest Airbnb density is Pattaya in Thailand, with 79.25 rentals per 1,000 people. Jeju in South Korea came second with 30.89 rentals per 1,000 people and Orlando in the United States was ranked third, with 29.21 rentals per 1,000 people.

When it comes to the cost of Airbnb stays, Ankara, Bangalore, and Kathmandu are among the cheapest cities to stay in a rental, while Las Vegas, Miami, and San Francisco are among the most expensive.

Inkifi conducted its research study using data from AirDNA, a resource for vacation rental research, and the World Population Review.
