Firefighter reported minor injury in Birmingham commercial building fire

A commercial building appeared to be destroyed after a large fire in Birmingham on Monday. A Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said crews were called to the 1400 block of 19th Avenue North at around 12.30pm. When firefighters arrived they saw smoke and flames. coming from the structure. The department was able to extinguish the fire within 30 minutes, but one firefighter was slightly injured and received medical attention. No other person was injured. The department says the building was a vacant home but was being used as a business. .The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The ministry says the building was a vacant home but was being used as a business.
