Five Christmas carol services to attend in Dorset this week

CHRISTMAS is right around the corner with plenty of events taking place across Dorset to get you in the holiday spirit.

If it’s not Christmas without a carol service, then you’re in luck.

A host of services will be taking place across the region over the next few days.

Here is a selection of some of the events you can attend.

1. Join the Prama crew for an afternoon of Christmas carols and mince pies at St. Nicholas Church at Wareham Road, Corfe Mullen on Thursday 15 December at 2.30pm.

2. Everyone is invited to join the church community of Saint Catherine to Southbourne for their annual Festival Service of Nine Lessons and Carols on Sunday 18th December at 4pm.

The service will include traditional congregational Christmas carols, choral hymns sung by the choir, interspersed with scripture readings, telling the Christmas story. After the service, seasonal refreshments will be served at the parish center.

3. The annual Shoppers Carol Service will be held this year at The Cathedral Church at Wimborne on Saturday December 17 at 11 a.m. It will last half an hour and will be led by the parish priest, the Reverend Nick Wells.

Then on Sunday, December 18, the traditional Carols by Candlelight Service will take place at The Minster at 6:30 p.m.

4. Ferndown Christmas Carol Service will be held at St. Mary’s Church at Church Road on Thursday, December 15 at 7 p.m.

Participants are requested to be seated before 6:50 p.m. Festive refreshments will be served after the service.

5. St. James Church in Church Street, Poole, will host its Candlelight Carol Service on Sunday 18th December at 6.30pm. Everyone is welcome.
