The home rental site posted its most popular Labor Day vacation destinations, and the quaint town of Fredericksburg in Hill Country was among the top 10 places for a vacation getaway.
Analyzing trends this year, Airbnb looked at user data from August 1-20 and says it found some interesting anomalies. Gone are city breaks – these dropped from 40% during Labor Day 2019 to just 20% in 2020 – and international travel. Instead, the company says, travelers largely stay close to home, with the majority choosing destinations within 300 miles of where they live.
“This fall, as consumers adjust to a new world of travel and prioritize controlling their travel experience, they continue to seek out new and distinctive experiences, even in their own backyards,” writes Airbnb. .
In exchange for this near-home trend, travelers seek unique accommodations, choosing experiential stays, like yurts and houseboats over traditional houses or apartments.
“Shepherd’s huts nearly doubled in number of inclusions in July compared to last year, while others are showing similar growth: barns (up 60%), cabins (up 40%) %) and cottages (up 30%), ”says Airbnb.“ Of the 20 most searched listings in the world in August, five of them are treehouses, three are tiny houses, two are domes and others include a hut, hut, cabin, and cave. “
According to Airbnb’s analysis, it is actually a treehouse that has taken root among Fredrickburg’s top vacation spots. The one-bedroom, one-bath Live Oak Treehouse features a comfortable reading nook, hammock, patio with Hill Country treetop views, kitchenette, living room elegant bathrooms and even a whirlpool tub.
And although it’s a bedroom, the king-size bed comes with organic linens and is surrounded by a mosquito net and twinkling lights. The entire space is currently listed at $ 339 per night and comes with a cleaning protocol.
