Glasgow city center’s lost clubs and bars in 2008 and what’s there now

When it comes to nightlife, Glasgow is the true capital of Scotland, offering a rich and diverse array of different clubs and bars that cater to almost every taste imaginable.

The city has had – and still has – many clubs and bars that have stood the test of time and seem to be with us in the future (Nice N Sleazy’s, Garage, we’re looking at you), but what to those who have long since abandoned the dancefloor?

Looking in Google Street View, some clubs and bars in Glasgow seem to have changed names as often as the seasons. Many are no longer night spots or have been completely demolished.

Using Google’s time slider feature, we can go back the years to see which sites were around the city center in 2008 compared to today. From Sauchiehall Street and High Street to Bath Street and Merchant City.

If you were old enough to go clubbing in the 2000s, this will certainly bring back fond memories.

Here you can get a glimpse of the past and reminisce about Glasgow businesses we have now lost or how places have visually changed.

Our list is far from exhaustive, but if you think there are more places we could have included, let us know in the comments section.
