His teammates react to Teden Mengi getting the first clean sheet in Birmingham

Manchester United loanee Teden Mengi was a doubt for Birmingham City against Luton Town but helped Lee Bowyer’s side keep a crucial clean sheet.

The 19-year-old came off just after the hour mark in Wednesday’s loss to Bournemouth with a hamstring problem.

But the youngster shrugged off any injury concerns to start yesterday’s Championship clash against Luton at St Andrew’s.

Making his ninth consecutive start for the Blues since his loan spell last month, Mengi recorded his first clean sheet for Bowyer’s side.

BirminghamLive gave Mengi a 7/10 rating for his performance against Nathan Jones’ side.

Posting to Instagram after the win, Teden Mengi drew praise from his United and Birmingham team-mates.

Bournemouth manager Scott Parker has offered an encouraging update on Ethan Laird, who is yet to make his debut for the Cherries.

“Ethan Laird is back in practice on Monday with us, so he’ll be with the team,” Parker told the daily echo.

“He’s going in the right direction.”

Ethan Galbraith, who has missed Doncaster’s last three games, has not recovered from a calf problem and is set to miss next Tuesday’s trip to Lincoln City.

Rovers boss Gary McSheffrey said: “Ethan is back at Manchester United for a few days and we will hit base and reassess him at the start of next week, but I wouldn’t say he would be available for the couple. following.”
