Living in Tampa Bay means avoiding the rain during the summer months, but luckily for us, there are plenty of indoor options to keep the night (or day!) alive. Check out our roundup of indoor date ideas for the perfect date for a rainy day.

Park and recreation

To play

Keep your date fun and fun with an indoor play space. Lace up your skates Tampa Skateworld, a roller skating rink with plenty of public skating time. If you prefer games, Park and recreation — a self-proclaimed adult playground — has locations in Tampa and St. Pete. Have a drink and play arcade games at your leisure.

Arcade game fans can also find fun and refreshments at Lowry Parade in Seminole Heights and Gen X Tavern in downtown Tampa. Keep the competitive vibe going as you race the lanes at Splitville at the Sparkman wharf. Knock down a few pins before heading to the new Noble Rice for a side meal.

The Dali Museum has a perfect location in downtown St. Pete, and while the museum’s collection isn’t to be overlooked, there’s almost always a fun traveling exhibit to explore while you’re there, too.

Learn a little more about your place of residence at Tampa Bay History Center. From our early settlers to the history of Gasparilla, you’ll leave with a greater appreciation for your hometown. Just down the Tampa Riverwalk from the History Center you will find the Tampa Museum of Art – a beautiful and modern space with a fine collection and frequent host of traveling exhibitions.

Beverage

A little more focused on having a drink on a rainy day? We have taken the steps to find our favorite wine bars on both sides of the bay. For beer lovers, we have a complete list of all breweries in our region so you can find one that suits your mood and location. We love the atmosphere at Coppertail Brewing in Ybor City, and you could certainly spend the entirety of a rainy day spitting beers and playing games at Brewing of the 3 girls in Saint Peter. We’d hate to leave out a classic date idea – explore these cafes for a comfortable date in the rain.
