Who is Jonathan Van Ness?
Jonathan McDonald Van Ness is a hairstylist, podcast host, activist, actor, author and television personality. Known as JVN, he was born March 28, 1987 in Quincy, Illinois. His family owns the broadcast and newspaper conglomerate Quincy Media. He has been openly homosexual his entire life, and at the end of 2010 he revealed his gender nonconforming and nonbinary. He spoke about the abuse he faced from an older boy in church when he was younger, which led to “self-destructive behavior” as he described it.
While studying at the University of Arizona, he used up his monthly allowance of cocaine. He was too embarrassed to ask his parents for help, so he resorted to sex work. This led to sex and drug addiction which caused him to lose his cheerleader purse. He later gave up and decided to pursue hairdressing. He trained at the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis and worked in Arizona for 5 years, before moving to Los Angeles, California.

As reported by Celebrity Networth, Van Ness’ net worth is currently $ 5 million. Erin Gibson from Funny or Die asked him to do a “Game of Thrones” episode recap for Funny or Die. This later became “Gay of Thrones,” which earned Van Ness a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series in 2018. He is also an author, having written books such as “Over the Top” : A Raw Journey to Self-Love ”. and a picture book titled “Peanut Goes For Gold”. It also has its own line of hair care products under the name JVN.
As for his assets, Van Ness had previously stayed in New York, until he moved to film season 6 of “Queer Eye”. Here he fell in love with Austin and quickly decided to move South.
“I didn’t expect to fall so much in love with Austin when we came here for the shoot,” he said, while speaking to Self.Com. “And then we came and it all stopped. I had my four cats and I was on this lake in an Airbnb, and I was like: do I like Austin? Is it a liberal stronghold in Texas? And it sort of is. I started to explore and thought to myself: Oh, my God, I want to move here. Then I found a home and loved it. he added.
