If you dream of the good old days at the start of the school year, you must book a weekend at this AirBnB in Middle River, Minnesota. Middle River is a town in Marshall County, Minnesota, about 4 hours northwest of the St. Cloud region.

The town’s old primary school went on sale in 2018, but the city wanted to make sure the building was saved. After an almost unanimous vote, they bought it from the school district for $ 1.

Four of the classrooms were converted into bedrooms and the the rest of the school operates as a family hostel:

Guests have access to their own private classroom with 2 double beds, a toddler bed, a sink, shelves for books and games, a table and several desks. Guests have access to a living room with large kitchen areas, tables, comfortable furniture and a smart TV. Guests share bathrooms, changing rooms and the gym. The library will be open to guests upon special request. Breakfasts are also available on request for a small supplement.

The city also offers affordable gym memberships, a church runs weekly services inside the building, and a repair shop rents the old bus garage. The football field has been converted into an off-road track which caters to fans of baja racing.
