“COVID has challenged us to find new ways to connect, and we’re thrilled that Oculus giveaways are creating a space where virtually everyone can come together in the metaverse.”

corny, a leading digital product consultancy, announces that it will welcome its first “Holiday Party After the Holidays” employee to the Metaverse via company-donated Oculus Quest 2 VR headsets. Since the pandemic has pushed gatherings further than expected, the party will take place on February 24 in six custom-built metaverse halls.

With three offices in Minneapolis, Chicago and Phoenix, and many remote workers spread across the country, the company is thrilled to have a way to safely connect during the pandemic to celebrate the successes of the past year. . To thank them for their dedication during this time, each employee, or Nerd, received an Oculus Quest 2 in December as a holiday gift.

“A big part of what makes Nerdery special is how much our community really enjoys spending time together,” said Rachel Alm, vice president of people operations for Nerdery. “COVID has challenged us to find new ways to connect, and we’re thrilled that Oculus giveaways are creating a space where virtually everyone can come together in the metaverse.”

The team has already created custom metaverse environments for two team-wide happy hours to test out functionality, and many employees have enjoyed congregating in the happy hour spaces. For the holiday party, the team designed six custom rooms in AltspaceVR, a platform for virtual live events. There will also be a Zoom Room attached to ensure the event is accessible to all Nerds.

The personalized rooms will include Easter eggs which, when found, will allow partygoers to win prizes ranging from an Airbnb travel package to a set of Oculus accessories or a 3D printer. To bridge the physical-to-digital divide, all attendees will also receive a Nerd-themed gift box to accompany the virtual party complete with a glow-in-the-dark t-shirt, cocktail kit, glow-in-the-dark necklaces, sweets, and pint glasses.

Nerdery’s last in-person holiday party was in February 2020 at the Minneapolis Club.

“While the large-scale in-person holiday season is still on hiatus, we look forward to coming together through virtual reality technology,” said Nerdery CEO Michael Schmidt. “Like many organizations, we weren’t able to celebrate together last year, so I’m thrilled that we can use new technology to create a fun and innovative event for this year, and connect with our teammates across the country. .”

For the Nerdery team, turning to modern technology to solve real-world challenges is what empowers them every day. For customers, it looks like rotating the 2020 Google Cloud Next event to a fully virtual experience and streamlining Over 70 Purina Websites into a single digital experience platform. Whether transforming legacy technology or creating revolutionary new digital products, Nerdery combines diverse expertise and unique service offerings to drive businesses forward. For the nerds in-house, that means exploring innovative ways to use technology to stay connected.
