Police are searching for answers and asking for help after a Newburgh teenager was shot in the groin not far from the Newburgh seafront.
On Tuesday, the Newburgh Town Police Department confirmed that an 18-year-old was shot dead in the town of Newburgh on Monday night.

On Monday, June 6, 2022, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Newburgh City Police officers received a ShotSpotter activation in the 69 South Street area.
Arriving officers found a crime scene in the parking lot of the Varick Homes condominium complex.

An 18-year-old Newburgh resident was shot in the groin during the incident, police say.
The unnamed teenager was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital by private vehicle. He was admitted to hospital for medical treatment but is in stable condition at this time, according to the Newburgh City Police Department.

Police seek help after Newburgh, New York teenager sustains groin injury
A total of four shots were reportedly fired. The police are trying to determine the shooter and his motive.
“Police are looking for any witnesses who may be in the area at the time of this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the City of Newburgh Police Department at 845-569-7509. Callers may remain anonymous,” the city of Newburgh Police Department said in a news release.
