Pittsburgh North Side residents fed up after series of shootings

THE CITY IS ACTING STRONGER. I HAVE LIVED ON THIS STREET FOR 20 YEARS. I HAVE LIVED IN THIS AREA SINCE 1982. ROBERT MILES LIVES ON CEDAR AVENUE JUST UP THE STREET FROM THE SITE OF OCTOBER WHICH LEFT THREE PEOPLE DEAD. TWO OF THEM INNOCENT PASSENGERS. HE’S NOT THE ONLY FRUSTRATED NORTH SIDER. I’m tired of looking everywhere, you know, left, right, you know, making sure there’s nobody around me. FURTHER FILMING HAS BEEN AT A BRIGHTON HEIGHTS FUNERAL AT AN AIRBNB. JUST LAST NIGHT A MAN WAS SHOT AND KILLED IN RYAN PLACE. COMMUNITY LEADERS AND CITY OFFICIALS SEEK ANSWERS. THE NORTHSIDE PARTNERSHIP PROJECT DISTRIBUTES THOUSANDS OF SIGNS AND T-SHIRTS TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO CALL THE POLICE. IT’S A MATTER OF MAKING PEOPLE TALK TO EACH OTHER BECAUSE WHEN THEY TALK TO EACH OTHER, THE OFFERS APPLY THE INFORMATION. MAN BECAUSE I TELL YOU THE POLICE CANNOT DO THIS. IF WE DON’T DO THIS, OUR COMMUNITY WILL NOT BE DONE. THE CITY HOPE TO RELEASE MORE POLICE BY USING SOCIAL WORKERS AS FIRST RESPONDERS. IF APPROPRIATE, THERE ARE SOME THAT COULD BE ROUTED TO THESE OTHER FORMS OF RESPONSE. SO IN CONSIDERATION OF THIS, BECAUSE IT WILL FREE UP OUR OFFICERS TO GET MAXIMUM, YOU KNOW, THE HIGHEST AND MOST VIOLENT INCIDENTS THAT COULD OCCUR. LAST MONTH THE CITY ANNOUNCED $1,000,000 AND STOP THE VIOLENCE GRANTS TO COMMUNITY GROUPS, INCLUDING THE NORTHSIDE PARTNERSHIP PROJECT
