Police investigate fatal shooting in North Pittsburgh – WPXI

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police are actively searching for the person who shot and killed a man just steps from the National Aviary Thursday night.

“It’s really disgusting to see him in our neighborhood,” Nathaniel Knochel, who lives on the Northside, told Channel 11.

The medical examiner identified Shayne Strader as the man who was shot just outside on Arch Street.

He was shot several times in the head and in the back.

“You know you’re blessed, it’s not you, but you have to have the humanity to recognize it’s someone and pray for them. It could (be) you, it could be anyone that you know,” Knochel said.

The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. Thursday night when people were still moving around the community.

When our cameras were there, we saw police and evidence markers all over the street.

“The city is beautiful, but what happens in the slums…one side of the street is nice and the other is dark. Everything is divided,” said Northside resident Deonte Kidd.

Police have yet to make an arrest in last night’s case, and no one has been charged in the fatal Airbnb shooting that happened a mile away.

I asked Pittsburgh police if they were going to increase patrols in the Northside after last night’s shooting, and a spokesperson told me, “All Area 1 officers will remain vigilant while patrolling. throughout their area.

“I just wish everything was peaceful. I prefer peace to war anytime,” Kidd added.
