Record Store Day 2022 in Miami: Sweat Records, Technique, Radio-Active, and more

Whether you’re one of those who bought a record player at Target two years ago because nostalgia went mainstream, or you’re an avid vinyl collector with a shelf full of rare records, the deals (and parties) planned in Miami for Record Store The day of Saturday, April 23 is sure to strike a chord.

lucky discs

Lucky Records, the record store within the Wynwood Food Hall and 1-800 Lucky Club, will carry a great selection of exclusive RSD releases and more. You’ll find a $1 bin—a few thousand records, according to one employee—to rummage through, as well as a collection of 200 sealed ’70s jazz and rock records. If you’re the kind of Miamian that follows the Broward-Dade line, consider heading to Radio-Active in Fort Lauderdale, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary. Here, you’ll find a sidewalk sale where you can mix and match four CDs, 45s, records, and tapes for $1. You may recall that before the pandemic, Sweat Records held an RSD event with then-next-door Churchill’s Pub. Although the latter is still closed, Sweat is still celebrating. You’ll find RSD exclusives as well as additional new and used stock on the floor. Anyone queuing before 7 a.m. will be able to “call” a title that will be reserved for them. (Sweat recommends calling or messaging the store ahead of time for information on the availability of a specific title.) If you’re there more for the good time than the vinyl, better to wait until at noon, when there will be free beer from Dogfish Head for the first 50 customers, plus free cocktails and frozen treats.
