RHONJ’s Teresa Giudice Undergoes Scary Emergency Surgery

A scary thing happened to Jersey daughter Teresa Giudice on Wednesday night. The ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ star had to be rushed to the hospital. I think only someone’s lawyer on a reality show like this would make the following statement…

James Leonard told TMZ Giudice was admitted for “non-cosmetic” surgery.

“She is recovering and looking forward to a speedy recovery. She thanks everyone for their prayers and best wishes.

Apparently he felt the real news here was that it was NOT cosmetic surgery. But it was actually serious business. An emergency appendectomy. Just over 400 people die each year in the United States from appendicitis, but you have to catch it in time. Once ruptured, the mortality rate is as high as 50%.

The family is grateful that she caught him in time. Her daughter Gia posted a photo of her mother in her hospital gown on Instagram saying, “Such a soldier, I love you. Pray for a speedy recovery, I love you.”

Teresa Giudice was smarter than me when I got appendicitis at 43. I was sick on a Friday afternoon during a show but I stayed on the air. I went home, got much sicker and the next day I played Dr Google and researched all my symptoms. It was like reading a newspaper from the past 24 hours. As if I had classic appendicitis.

Being stubborn, I went into denial mode and refused to believe it, and instead of going to the hospital, I went back to bed. Four hours later I went to the hospital and was rushed into emergency surgery late at night. My appendix ruptured in the middle of the operation and it was very close. They said if I had waited even an hour longer, I would probably be dead.

Stupid, I know.

Giudice, 49, is from Paterson and has been a reality TV star on the show since 2009. She sold her house in Towaco not long ago for $2 million and according to nj.com planned to marry her boyfriend Luis Ruelas this summer. No word if the medical emergency will affect those plans.
