Rob Burrows CBeebies Bedtime Story

Former Leeds Rhino Rugby League star Rob Burrows set to read CBeebies Bedtime story on International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Burrows has motor neuron disease and will use an eye-rotating computer to read the story. As Rob is a proud Yorkshireman, the computer will recreate the words in his native language. Yorkshire Accent.

Rob, who was joined in the CBeebies studio by his wife Lindsey and two of their children Maya, 7, and Jackson, 3, said he was “excited and honoured” because he loved reading to his children.

Maya and Jackson were there to lend a hand, shouting “Action” from the gallery as the cameras started rolling.

He told the BBC: “Reading and literacy are so important. Regardless of your disability, reading is accessible to everyone.

“Anyone can enjoy reading and develop a love of books and bedtime stories, just like me and my family.”

Burrows chose to read Tom Percival’s “Tilda Tries Again,” the story of a young girl who one day sees her world turned upside down and must find new ways to solve life’s problems.

Leeds Rhino Legend of over 16 years announced he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2019. The disease affects the brain and nerves, causing muscle weakness.

In 2021 Rob Burrows was awarded an MBE 2 in 021 for his services to the Rugby League and the Motor Neurone community, one of the most successful plays in the history of the sport.

Former Leeds Rhino teammate Kevin Sinfield recently completed a mammoth task of seven marathons in just seven days as part of his commitment to raising money for motor neuron disease. The legend raised more than £1.3m when he finished his run in Manchester last month.

Rob Burrows will read his CBeebies Bedtime Story at 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, December 3 via CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
