SKY BRIDGE 721, A SUSPENSION BRIDGE OF RECORDS
After two years of construction, the longest in the world bridge opened in the Czech Republic. Double Heavenly Bridge 721, the record-breaking suspension bridge is located between the ridges of the Kralicky Snezník mountain, offering breathtaking views to hikers.
Stretching 721 meters between two mountain ridges at a height of 95 meters, the official inauguration of the bridge took place on May 13, 2022. With its dimensions, the bridge broke the record for the currently longest bridge of 516 meters long in the region of Arouca, Portugal, which opened in spring 2021.
ON 721 METERS BETWEEN TWO MOUNTAIN CRESTS AT 95 METERS HEIGHT
the Heavenly Bridge 721 leads from Slaměnka Cottage near the existing Skywalk above the valley, to the side of Chlum Hill. Visitors enter at an altitude of 1,125 meters and exit ten meters higher. For its construction, 1,030 cubic meters of concrete were used, making a total weight of 405 tons, the total weight of cables reaching 158 tons, and auxiliary structures 20 tons.
Throughout its 721 meters, visitors will reach its highest point at 95 meters above ground level – 1,116 above sea level. Six main support ropes and 60 wind ropes of various diameters la suspend while extending 1.2 meters in width for the walkway.
Crossing the bridge, visitors will have a unique opportunity to learn about local history through an educational trail called The Bridge of Time. Here, a total of eight educational panels and a connected interactive game with tasks are thematically and chronologically arranged so that after an undemanding walk along marked routes of about an hour each visitor comes back to the present.
