St. Louis High School shooting suspect identified

A shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in St. Louis on Monday left three people dead, including the suspect who was allegedly responsible for the shooting.

Now more details about the victims and the suspect have been released.

According BNC News, at a news conference on Tuesday, police said the suspect had been identified as 19-year-old Orlando Harris. It was shared that he was armed with an AR-15 type rifle and over 600 rounds. There was also a note left behind that talked about mass shootings.

St. Louis Police Chief Mike Sack said:

“He had seven rounds of ammunition on a chest rig he was carrying, he also had eight additional rounds of ammunition in a field bag he had been carrying. This does not include the number of magazines he left and thrown down the stairs in the hallways along the way.

Sack went on to share that the incident could have been worse had officers not arrived at the scene when they did. It remains unclear how Harris obtained the gun in his possession. However, it was shared that he left a handwritten note in the car he drove to school.

During the press conference, part of the note was read. Bag said,

“So by reading this we could see some of what was going on in his mind. He feels isolated, he feels lonely, most likely angry and resentful of others who have what seemed to him to be healthy relationships and therefore wanted to take it out.

Sack also encouraged people to check others out, saying, “If you know someone who seems to be suffering from some sort of mental illness or distress, and they start talking about buying guns or causing harm to others, we encourage you to reach out to someone and report it so we can get help for that person.

The victims of the shooting have been identified as 61-year-old health teacher Jean Kuczka and 15-year-old second Alexzandria Bell.

As previously reported, shortly after the shooting, Sack spoke to reporters and shared that there was one victim who was pronounced dead at a local hospital and one victim who was announced dead at the scene.
