Stay in a spectacular Airbnb in Mexico with its own cenote

Tired of the cold wind and driving rain of winter? Well, here’s the chance to stay somewhere that’s pretty much the complete opposite vibe. There’s a villa in the Mexican jungle that has its own cenote — and it’s available to rent on Airbnb.

A cenote is basically a kind of natural underground reservoir generally associated with the Yucatán region of Mexico. Cenotes held special significance to the ancient Maya, but these days they’re best known for being really, really spectacular bathing spots.

The Airbnb in question is called Villa Xnuuk and it’s in Nuuku, a community of six villas about half an hour’s drive from Cancun airport. All villas are in a modern Mayan style and hidden in the jungle.

Villa Xnuuk has its own cenote, of course, but that’s not the end of its charms. The rental also has an outdoor pool, hot tub, and plenty of lounge chairs and hammocks, plus free breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking. It’s designed as a romantic retreat for couples, with just one king-size bed and a strict adults-only policy.

It’s all in the jungle and a far cry from the manic antics of Cancun’s beach party hotspot. Here are some pictures of Villa Xnuuk.

Not bad huh ? You can book Villa Xnuuk and find out more here. And with December temperatures in Cancun in the mid-20s, it’s better than the cold drizzle of this winter.
