Looking for inspiration for your next gourmet pilgrimage? Well, hunt no further. TripAdvisor just announced this year’s food-centric party Traveller’s Choice Award and unveiled its ranking of the best restaurants in the world in 2022.
Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards select the best destinations, attractions, accommodations and more based on ratings and reviews submitted by TripAdvisor users. All reviews and ratings were submitted within the last year.
The best restaurant in the world according to TripAdvisor is… The old stamp house in the UK‘s Lake District! Which will come as no surprise to those who have already followed the Travellers’ Choice Awards. The Michelin-starred Old Stamp House, which serves fine English classics in the former office of poet William Wordsworth, also topped the rankings last year.
Second in the list came Gold in Rio de Janeirowhich serves refined dishes from all over Brazilwhile the third was Madonna of the Pescatorea gastronomic restaurant focused on fish Italyfrom the Adriatic coast.
TripAdvisor doesn’t just rank the best restaurants. It also divided restaurants into categories such as “picture perfect” (top was Sunset Monalisa in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico) ‘hidden gems’ (Green Point in Cuzco, Peru), ‘a romantic date’ (Altto Ristorante & Lounge Bar in Armacao dos Buzios, Brazil) and “everyday dishes” (Makars Gourmet Mash Bar in Edinburgh, Scotland).
