The father who disappeared with his partner and his newborn is a registered sex offender | UK News

A missing father with his girlfriend and newborn baby is a registered sex offender, we have learned.

Detectives have been searching for Mark Gordon, Constance Marten and their baby since they disappeared when their car broke down on the M61 near Bolton on January 5.

Police believe their baby may have been born inside the vehicle and would not have been more than two days old at the time of the breakdown.

It is also believed that most of the couple’s belongings were destroyed when their abandoned vehicle caught fire, due to a mechanical problem.

Gordon, 48, was convicted of rape and assault in the late 1980s and spent 20 years in a Florida prison.

Upon his release and deportation to the UK in 2010, Gordon was placed on the sex offender register.

After leaving their vehicle in Bolton on January 5, the couple are said to have traveled by taxi to Liverpool before move to Essex then London.

According to the police, they are believed to have a substantial sum of money and would use it to pay for taxis and Airbnb accommodation in order to live off the grid.

Ms. Marten, 35, comes from a wealthy aristocratic family.

Detectives are increasingly concerned about the health of the baby and claim that no medical professional assessed the child or the mother during her pregnancy.

“It’s now been almost two weeks since Mark and Constance’s car broke down on the M61 near Bolton and they’ve been traveling the whole time with a newborn baby,” said Detective Commissioner Lewis Basford, who led investigation.

“As far as we know, neither Constance nor the baby has received medical attention since birth. Our priority is to make sure the baby, and indeed Constance and Mark, are safe and sound.

“This is a complex investigation with officers across the Met continuing to work around the clock to find Constance, Mark and their baby.

“There is no indication that any of them suffered any intentional harm – we just need to make sure he is okay, especially the baby, and that he doesn’t need medical assistance to underlying issues.
