The hottest travel destinations for 2023 revealed by Airbnb

When it comes to predicting upcoming travel trends, some are better equipped than others to stare into the crystal ball. Take the Airbnb vacation rental titan, for example. With access to mind-boggling amounts of data on millions of travel bookings worldwide, their predictions are certainly worth investigating.

In a recent report, Airbnb summarized the travel trends of the past year, noting that everything from international trips to pool vacations had made a comeback in the past 12 months. The year also saw the launch of Airbnb a bunch of new categoriesallowing you to search for anything from entire islands of the Mediterranean to real UFOs.

The report also looked to the future, to highlight ten destinations that Airbnb thinks will dominate travel next year. The forecast is based on the increase in location search volume compared to 2021.

The top of the stack is the Spanish coastal town of Malaga. Long known for its beaches and sunshine, it’s also renowned for its sizzling cultural scene (check out its Picasso Museum, Carmen Thyssen Museum, and Center Pompidou branch) and fascinating history.

The rest of the top ten features surprising inclusions, no less than three Brazilian seaside towns – Florianopolis, Porto Seguro and salvador – and a number of places in New Zealand and Australiaboth are rebounding from spending chunks of last year closed to international travel.
