The most dangerous intersection in the state of Iowa

Every time you get behind the wheel of a car, you put your life and the lives of other lives in danger. Even if you are only driving at 32 km/h in a residential area, accidents can happen and people can be injured. According to HG Legal Resourcesthere have been more than 300 road deaths a year in Iowa for nearly a century.

You never know when an accident might happen and most accidents happen in the blink of an eye. I’m not saying this to sound like Mr. Driver’s Ed, but safe driving is something everyone who drives a car should practice, every time they drive a vehicle.

Your risk of having a car accident can increase for a variety of reasons. If you drive more frequently than the average person, live in an area with more cars or traffic, drive more recklessly than the average person, and drive under the influence, this can obviously increase your chances of being in an accident. If you drive frequently at this Iowa intersection, you should exercise more caution than usual.

If you’ve been through this area, you know it can be an absolute mess. Drivers don’t signal when they’re going to merge and other drivers don’t realize one of the lanes is a turning lane, so if they’re not moving they’ll have to turn at some point. After realizing this, they panic and swerve into traffic.

You have probably seen many cars at this intersection on the side of the road after an accident. I personally saw several tractor-trailers in the ditch at this intersection. I swear drivers in this area keep their fingers crossed and hope for the best when deciding where to go and what lane they want to be in.

They never seem to have a plan, are always in a rush, and never want to slow down to let someone else move or speed up and let them merge behind their car. It’s always an adventure at Avenue des Saints. So, we have the most dangerous intersection in Iowa. This intersection has seen many accidents and fatalities, so it’s important to remember to exercise caution when driving through this area.

Is it really the worst?

To be fair, HG Legal makes a strange “honorable mention” in their story. They claim another awful intersection in Iowa is on Hwy 20 and Hwy 35 in Coralville…as anyone who’s been 10 minutes in the Corridor knows, there isn’t a such intersection. Hmm.
