“The Son of Man” adds Will Peltz, Sarah Dumont, Sydelle Noel; Voltage launches sales – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Will Peltz (friendless), Sarah Dumont (Scouts guide to the zombie apocalypse) and Sydelle Noël (GLOW) have signed on to star alongside Frank Grillo, Jaime King, Katherine Hughes and Josh Plasse in the horror thriller son of manwith Voltage Pictures on board to launch international sales before the next Marché du Film.

Director Remy Grillo’s XYZ Films title centers on a young couple (Hughes and Plasse) who hope to create an aesthetically pleasing audition tape for an up-and-coming Charles Manson film. When they choose an eclectic Airbnb desert as the perfect backdrop, the dark events of the audition material slowly slip into their reality, until they find themselves intertwined in a dark and sinister plot led by the characters of King and Grillo.

Plasse and Brev Moss wrote the screenplay, which is inspired by modern occult activity in the California desert, and will begin production this month in Yucca Valley, California. Dare Angel is producing the film in partnership with Mi Nene, Hooligan Dreamers and Margate House Films. Plasse, Shakira Barrera, Conor Allyn, Jake Allyn, Benjamin Anderson, Fabio Lo Fria, Johnny James Fiore, King and Emma Comley are producing, with Bobby McMichael, Chido Nwokocha, Nidal Kahl and Dennis Echelberger serving as executive producers. XYZ Films acquired the film’s North American rights earlier this month, with a view to releasing it later this year or in early 2023.

The voltage comes to son of man after handling sales of the action thriller No Man’s Landby Jake and Conor Allyn’s Margate House Films, which also starred Frank Grillo.

Peltz has previously appeared in films including exploited, 13 Minutes, Sierra Burgess is a loser, A reassuring light, Men, women and children, friendless, Write love in her arms and On time. His TV credits include Manifest, Euphoria and Surroundings. The actor will also soon star in the comedy by Melissa Miller Costanzo The listthe drama of Nicola Peltz Lola Jamesthe drama of Michael Easterling and Jaala Ruffman Deltopiaand the comedy of Robin Givens The Nana Project.

Dumont will next appear in the horror film Cursed from Willy’s Wonderland helmsman Kevin Lewis. She has also been seen in films such as Scout guide to the apocalypse and Don Jon. Notable TV credits include 9-1-1, Hawaii five-0, The oath and The Royals.

Noel played stuntwoman and B-movie actress Cherry Bang on Netflix GLOW and has also been seen in series such as Arrow, The night shift and Existing. She has also acted in films such as The meadow, Black Panther and Captiveand will next appear in Maritte Lee Go’s action thriller, To go up.
