The ‘world’s smallest cocktail bar’ is set to open in Birmingham

From September 1-3, a Birmingham phone booth will transform into what is claimed to be the world’s smallest bar – and, although a bit cramped, no reservations are required.

On September 1, guests will have a 10-minute date in the Temple Street stand with the bartender, who can (cautiously) shake up a storm with drinks such as a Jam Jar Daiquiri and a Bramley Apple Smash. Then, on September 2 and 3 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., it will be open to all those who don’t mind a little claustrophobia with their free cocktails.

But the pint-sized pop-up bar is actually the precursor to something much bigger – a new site for The Cocktail Club in the city that seats 450 people over two floors, due to open in Birmingham end of September. Unlike the Phone Booth, this new site will be the largest Cocktail Club to date. The band currently has a number of venues, including 9 in London and another set to open in Canary Wharf as well.

Cocktail Club co-founder JJ Goodman, who will be the one to work as the phone booth bartender, said: “I am delighted to welcome this pop-up to Birmingham to mark the launch of our most glamorous Cocktail Club ever. nowadays. The smallest cocktail bar in the world (as far as we know) will serve a handful of signature cocktails to Birmingham locals.

Whether it can claim to be the smallest bar in the world is debatable. Although the pop-up has less than one square meter of floor space, it cannot be fairly compared to (slightly) larger permanent venues with a license. For more, read this list of 10 small London drinking establishments.
