This crane pod in Amsterdam might just be the weirdest house on Airbnb

There are some pretty weird places on Airbnb, but have you ever seen a place as weird as this? The bizarre property is called The Crane and is basically a large pod housed in a giant old harbor crane.

The apartment (if you can really call it that) is in one of Amsterdam‘s former industrial docks. Overlooking the IJ River, The Crane is certainly a bit quirky, but it’s also very, very spectacular.

It is also surprisingly spacious. Set over three floors and with enough space for two people, the property has one bedroom, one bathroom, kitchen, and dining and lounging areas. It is also equipped with Wi-Fi, air conditioning, TV and all your usual rental equipment. Here are some additional photos of the place.

This is all on KNSM Island, a man-made island named after the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Stoomboot-Maatschappij shipping company that was once one of Amsterdam’s busiest industrial areas. These days, it’s best known as a hub for creatives and young professionals, and is within walking distance of the National Maritime Museum, Hortus Botanicus Gardens, and the bars and restaurants of the Oost area.

Managed by the company ‘aparthotel’ YES, The Crane’s rates start at around £350 ($437) per night. Which is pretty steep, but again, you’re staying in one of Airbnb’s most unique rentals. It’s a bloom cranefor God’s sake.

If all of this sounds good to you (and, to be honest, we’d be surprised if it wasn’t), you can check out The Crane’s availability. here.
