Village by BOA magazine | Getaways

Village by BOA is brand new to Porto, only opening its doors earlier this year. This is a Portuguese aparthotel that combines Airbnb-style apartments but with hotel-style service. As well as the main apartment building, there are rows of terraced cottages tucked away at the rear, which date back to the 18th century and which, thanks to ongoing restoration, have been given a facelift by Village. Although this year has started well, it is clear that Village by BOA has big plans for 2023, with the addition of a restaurant and grocery store in the works.

Village by BOA enjoys a privileged location, nestled in a quiet street in the lively district of Bolhao. Bolhao is definitely a neighborhood worth checking out and is one of Porto’s most popular areas, home to an indoor food market, those iconic blue and white tiled buildings, and some of Nata de Nata’s best restaurants and pastel spots. the city. It’s also only a three-minute walk from Trindade station, which takes you directly to the airport, which is very convenient. Although you are in the heart of Porto, Village by BOA is very secluded and quiet, a hidden gem.

There are a range of different apartments to choose from both in the main building and the terrace style houses outside, some sleeping up to four people. All apartments are chic and have a Mediterranean bohemian style. We stayed in one of their premium studios, which was very spacious for two people, with a large open-plan living room and kitchen, and a double bedroom separated by a glass divider. The bathroom was also a decent size, with a large walk-in shower stocked with Boujee Meraki products.

During our stay, we were unfortunately not lucky enough to have the Mediterranean sun, but rather torrential downpours. That, coupled with the fact that it was a Sunday evening, we were more than happy to get cozy in our apartment and watch a movie on the smart TV. Like many cities in Europe, many restaurants in Porto close on Sundays. Fortunately, we were able to cook something ourselves in the kitchen, while sipping a bottle of Portuguese vino.

You also don’t need to leave your apartment for breakfast at the Village. You can opt for one of their brekkie packages to be delivered right to your door, filled with goodies including fresh bread, homemade cakes, smoothies, fruits and more. Everything comes in a lovely wooden basket and best enjoyed in bed.

Village by BOA is ideal for those looking for more than just a hotel room to rest. Not only is it located in one of the best locations in Porto, but with all its amenities you will feel right at home, perfect for living like a local.
