PRODUCTION: Tomas Vengris in post-production with five and a half love stories in an apartment in Vilnius
VILNIUS: Lithuanian/American filmmaker Tomas Vengris is currently in post-production for his second-year acting course. Five and a half love stories in an apartment in Vilnius / Five and a half love stories that happened in one apartment in Vilniuswhich is expected to be released in 2023. The film is a Lithuanian/Irish/Latvian co-production.
Five guests go through a love crisis at Airbnb in Vilnius, unaware of the stories that took place within the same walls and under the same sheets. Between each episode, the silent cleaner Jolanta arrives to wipe away the evidence of their joys and tragedies, and her own silent love story.
Tomas Vengris created the script together with Tatia Rosenthal, and the main roles are played by Velta Žygure, Vidas Petkeviičius, Jonas Braškys, Valene Kane and Alison Oliver.
The film is produced by Uljana Kim through the Lithuanian studio Uljana Kim and co-produced by Alicia Ni Grhaine through Irish Tiger Darling Production and Roberts Vinovskis through Latvians. Studio locomotive.
The project received financial support from Lithuanian Cinema Center, EurimagesScreen Ireland, Latvian National Film Centerand Lithuanian Radio and Television Group. The total budget is about 1.5 million. EUR.
Filming took place in Vilnius in autumn 2021 and spring 2022. There were a total of 32 days of filming.
Tomas Vengris received his BA from Columbia University and completed directing studies at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. His debut as a director Homeland / Birthplace (2019), a Lithuanian/Latvian/German/Greek co-production produced by Uljana Kim Studio and Locomotive Studio, Heimat Hafen Films and Faliro House, won the European Audience Award at the ArteKino Film Festival and Best Film in the Baltic States. Competition at Tallin Black Nights IFF.
Tom Vengris has also worked as an editor for internationally acclaimed writer/directors including Terrence Malick, Kelly Reichardt and Lena Dunham.
