Woman spends £1.3k traveling 3,500 miles to Manchester for her first Wetherspoons date | United Kingdom | News

An American who fell in love with a Brit traveled 3,500 miles from New York to Manchester to take her to Wetherspoons for their first date. Felicia DiSalvo, 21, met Zak Broadhurst, 22, while playing chess online together and began an online romance. But Felicia decided to take the plunge and fly to the UK to meet the man of her dreams.

The young photographer shelled out £1,300 on flights to travel 3,500 miles to see Zak in the budget channel pub.

Zak, 22, persuaded her to jump on a plane and told her he would treat her to a meal at Moon Under the Water in the city centre.

They then fell in love with each other after eating fish, chips and curry sauce and drinking jugs of cocktails.

Anxious to immerse herself in British culture, Felicia participated in an online Wetherspoons game where you have to count the number of crisps you receive with your meal.

Felicia said: “When you spontaneously meet a British person on the internet and learn all the traditions of Spoons.

“So you fly all the way to count 22 chips and play chess with curry sauce instead of chess.com.”

But she gushed: “Zak, thank you for changing the trajectory of my life decisions so quickly.”

The American ended up going back to the pub five times because she loved it so much.
