Here are 5 quirky Airbnb rentals in Central Pa.
Need a weekend getaway? There are plenty of quirky Air Bed and Breakfasts, or Airbnbs, right in your backyard, including a cube, a shoe, and even a beer-themed hideaway in the woods.
Here are five fun Airbnbs to check out in central Pennsylvania:
Brewhouse Mountain is a nature and beer lover’s paradise in York Haven. In this fun Airbnb, nearly every inch of wall space is filled with vintage beer cans from around the world, antique bottles, lithographs, neon signs, and more vintage brewery memorabilia. The collection of beer cans, according to the rental’s website, is the largest of its kind in the world.
According to owner Jeff Lebo, the home was built in 1998 and opened for short-term rental in 2012.
“Short-term rental made the most sense for us and also gives our customers more flexibility,” Lebo said. “During Covid, our Brewhouse Mountain in York Haven was busier than ever, probably because people weren’t traveling overseas and wanted somewhere safe and private to gather with family and friends.”
Lebo said he has been buying antique and vintage brewery collectibles since 1975 and has amassed the largest collection in the world.
“Brewhouse Mountain is home to the collection and is probably the most unusual Airbnb you will ever stay at,” he said. “It’s a beer-themed house and people love staying there.”

Visit Middle-earth without leaving Lancaster County by booking a stay at Lothlorien Tree House in Mount Joy.
This tree house (yes, a real one) offers some unusual features, like a 20-foot Treebeard sculpture and a 110-foot suspension bridge. There is also an outdoor shower and kitchen, indoor fireplace, skylights, Tolkien books and LOTR games, and a stream and large fire pit. If you really want to lean into the LOTR theme, you can even rent costumes, hire a Gandalf impersonator for fireworks, and feast on lembas bread.
Blake Ringenberg, co-owner of the treehouse, said the journey to creating this sanctuary began just over four years ago when he and his wife, Gretchen, wanted to create a quiet, calming space for their patients in therapy.
“It was just a weird project that kind of turned into what it is now,” Ringenberg said. “We didn’t have a clear vision when we started, and that kind of happened.”
Ringenberg said all building materials were purchased from Habitat for Humanity Restore and details, such as a sculpture of Elrond and a Galadriel towel rack, were carefully selected by craftsmen, some even from Ukraine. .
“It was interesting to receive packages from Ukrainian artists, because even in the middle of the war people were still making art,” he said.
The Ringenbergs had to apply for permits at the state level, to ensure that their treehouse met all state safety codes. The house is also off-grid and runs on alternative energy.
