“It looked like the fabric was on top” – Airbnb rental used for all-night party | London holidays

Last weekend, an Airbnb rental was turned into a pop-up nightclub for a 200-person party that kept neighbors awake compared to London Fabric nightclub. It’s awkward timing for the home-sharing site, which this week launched its music experience project, which encourages hosts to host events in their homes.

The one-bedroom flat in Canonbury, north London, was equipped with a DJ sound system and bouncers stopped anyone without a ticket.

“It looked like the cloth was on top,” one neighbor said, according to the report Islington Gazette. “It was just a constant bass bang.”

Airbnb has introduced its new concept of music experience – an extension of it The Airbnb experiencewhich started in 2016 at the end – March 8 with Scottish singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé performing in east London.

“Music is an incredible way to bring people together,” he said Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky explained that the company wants to “give people access to exclusive and immersive music events, from intimate live performances, special pop-up concerts, underground music sessions and meet-and-greets with local artists and performers.”

However, a party in Canonbury that used the site to book an all-night rave probably wasn’t what the Airbnb founder had in mind.

“There was a microphone and professional speakers,” said another neighbor. “My house has a pretty good sound system and it was better.

Although their PA seemed impressed, he was less than happy with the choice of tunes: “It was terrible music – worst night’s sleep.

The party finally ended at 6am when he was visited by council staff and the police. Officers arrived at 3am but decided not to evict the revelers due to safety concerns.

Airbnb said in a statement: “We have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior. We support the host and removed the guest from Airbnb.

However, this isn’t the first time Airbnb rentals have been used in this way. We have reported earlier about homes overrun by drunk 18-year-olds, all-night cocaine sessions and “drug-fueled orgies”.

Then again, perhaps this latest rave is a sign that as the capital’s nightlife venues continue to close, promoters need to get more creative when it comes to finding a venue.
