Man arrested after stabbing in Torquay town center

Devon and Cornwall Police have issued an update after a major incident unfolded in Torquay this afternoon (April 28). Earlier today DevonLive received photographs showing several police cars and an ambulance at the scene after unconfirmed reports of a stabbing on Factory Row in Torquay. The air ambulance was also spotted en route to the location.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson has now issued an update on the incident, which saw a man in his 20s arrested and taken into custody. One injured person was taken to hospital by air ambulance and a police cordon remains in place.

The spokesman said: “Police were notified at around 1.50pm following reports that a man had been stabbed in Factory Row in Torquay. Officers and the ambulance service attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital via air ambulance.A cordon is currently in place on Factory Row.A man in his 20s has been arrested and taken into custody.

Footage from the scene showed at least four police cars were in the area when the incident unfolded, along with a ground ambulance. Photos also appear to show large crowds of people gathering at the scene
